AC20 Skis w LT 11.0 Binding
If you thought that Volkl renamed last year's AC2 and just gave it a graphic makeover, you would be missing out on one of the best new rides of the 2007-08 season. While the AC20 is less twitchy than the AC40 Carbon, it has a high performance, tip-to-tail Sensorwood core that adds more speed, rebound and potential agility than last year's gentler AC2 ski. Unlike some ski manufacturers who contract core work to third party companies, Volkl produces their own wood core to optimize quality and consistency in design with CNC precision. The AC20 also steps up from last year's Double Grip LT technology with a new Power Grip construction that puts more mass over the ski edges for more consistent grip through turns. Identical sidecut dimensions asi... ... Read More

Attiva Fuego Skis w iPT 11.0 TC Binding
While Volkl might classify their Attiva Fuego Ski as an all-mountain design, this high-speed expert's platform is oriented toward carving on groomed runs and hardpack. If you're looking for product comparisons, the Women's Attiva Fuego Ski has the same sidecut as Volkl's 10 Foot Power Switch ski, but the setup and components are specifically created for women. The Attiva Fuego features an extended wood core design that consists of two wood strips along the sides laminated to a bottom layer of titanium. Volkl maintained the female-specific 20/20 performance (20 percent lighter and 20 percent softer than unisex skis) while milling out the top section of the extended wood core to accommodate the Marker Motion iPT 11.0 TC Piston Binding. It's a... ... Read More

Junior's Mantra Skis (bindings not included)
Adults shouldn't have all the fun ripping the powder--especially when most young thigh muscles can take more runs and still feel fresh in the morning. Volkl is one of the few ski manufacturers to address the need for smaller powder skis for young advanced skiers, and the Mantra Jr. doesn't disappoint. Like the adult-proportioned Mantra, this smaller ski has a tip-to-tail Sensorwood core and wood sidewalls for flex. Unlike some ski manufacturers who contract core work to third party companies, Volkl produces their own wood core to optimize quality and consistency in design with CNC precision. Volkl balanced the Mantra Jr.'s agile core profile with their Power Construction design for confidence-inspiring control without the dumbed-down, begin... ... Read More

Katana Skis (binding not included)
Some people think that the widest powder skis are the best for floatation. In theory, they're correct--but this simple formula gets complicated the first time they try to nudge their way into a turn. That's why Volkl's easy-turning, high floatation Katana skis are one of the most popular designs this season. Volkl transformed their snowboard-oriented Powder Channel into Katana-friendly proportions, so you get the float without the camber for exceptionally easy turns in deep snow. This season Volkl tweaked their Power construction for a little more rigidity when you hit patches of hardpack. This gives you slightly better power transmission when you need to make turns in tight spots. Like other skis in the Volkl freeride series, the Katana sk... ... Read More

TigerShark 12' Power Switch Skis w iPT 12.0 Piston Binding
Some ski manufacturers compare their top-of-the-line skis to sports cars, but Volkl's TigerShark 12 Foot Power Switch is more like a super car with luxury ride refinements. This luxury ride potential comes in the form of Power Switch Technology, the world's first onboard ski power adjustment. Near the tail of the ski you'll see a little round power switch that connected to dual carbon fiber rods encased inside full-length tuning tubes that run along the TigerShark 12 Foot's edges. Flip the switch on and you'll compress elastomer springs (you can see them through little windows near the ski tips) and increase the ski's rigidity and potential power. Keep the switch on for skiing hard, and turn it off when you want to cruise. The TigerShark 12... ... Read More

TigerShark Jr Skis w M4.5 Binding
Developed with a profile similar to Volkl's popular Junior's Unlimited Ski, the TigerShark Jr. is an affordable entry-level ski with a vibration-dampening polyurethane core. Volkl refined the sidecut for predictable carving but the wide tip can smooth out the ride in crud and ungroomed snow. This version of the Volkl TigerShark Jr. has a lightweight Marker M4.5 that's specifically designed to fit skiers between 29 and 125 lbs. Despite being configured for small dimensions, the Marker M4.5 offers many of the same components found on adult-sized Marker bindings, including an integrated gliding AFD plate and EPS (Edge Pressure System) for better pressure and energy transmission to the ski edges.... Women's Attiva Tierra Skis w iPT 11.0 TC Binding
Last season Volkl's Women's Attiva AC3 ski picked up multiple awards for its versatility and expert-oriented all-mountain performance. This year Volkl's Attiva Tierra Ski with integrated Marker iPT 11.0 TC Binding comes closest to replicating the design, but we like the added emphasis on a female-specific construction that's oriented toward high performance. That's important because while almost all ski manufacturers create women's skis with the binding position closer to the tip than men's skis (this helps with turn initiation), the expert female skiers often opt for men's skis for the added speed and power. In a word, the Attiva Tierra is lighter and a little lower in the tip than the former AC3. It still features titanium for the extra p... ... Read More
